We went head-to-head with a strong Mulwala side, ultimately going down by 37 goals but it was certainly played at a high intensity rate.
From the first whistle, both teams fought hard for the ball with a few costly turn overs that cost us.
But the girls never dropped their heads, and kept working hard to get turnovers.
We had some good passages of play and you can definitely see what we are working on at training is being put out there.
Let’s all enjoy the week off for a well-deserved rest and come back firing against Barooga.
Awards: Milly Opt’Hoog (best on court), Courtney Lunn.
B-grade: Mulwala 67 def Finley 36.
Unfortunately, our girls took a while to get into the game and Mulwala were able to get a jump on us from the start.
The second and third quarters were strong and we were able to stay fairly even, however it wasn’t enough to win the game.
Definitely lots to take away from the game and work on at training.
Well done to the girls, who were able to hold their heads high and remain positive despite the score.
Best on went to Paige Gray for her consistency and reliability in shooting, and the coach’s award went to Ash Zera for her leadership on court.
C-grade: Fin 41 def by Mulwala 48.
Our first half gave us lots to work on, we improved in the second half and had our best quarter with 17 goals in the last.
But this wasn’t enough to pull back the lead Mulwala had gotten out to.
Accurate shooting and their tough defence in the ring saw them take the four points.
Best on went to Taesharn Crowe, our young gun attacker, who showed maturity beyond her years and determination against a tough and experienced defence.
The other award went to Judy Plattfuss, whose experience and calmness under pressure showed.
C-reserve: Finley 28 def by Mulwala 40.
A good first quarter had us in good stead with Mulwala.
We had some good momentum coming down the court after a talking to from our coach, and working as a team.
We didn’t come away with the win and have some things to work on at training, but overall, the effort was good.
Awards: Andrea Dickins (BOC), Telieah Pile.

We knew before the game started that it was going to be a great one, with similar margins between prior opposition.
The game was described as ‘scrappy’ due to the constant change of hands.
Both teams battled hard to hold possession and convert to a score.
The score was swinging, with each team taking the lead by a few goals during each quarter. It really could have been anyone’s game.
Emilee Sneddon did a fantastic job at maintaining a shooting accuracy throughout the entire match, and created critical turnovers as she defended down the court.
Piper Pyle was relentless with shadowing her player and shutting down their feeders. She also offered positive advice to her teammates.
Marlee Simpson played consistently well in defence all game, and then when the intense final quarter arrived maintained composure to create vital turnovers.
Lucy Mueller took to shooting in the second half, and shot with great confidence despite being new to the position.
All of the Finley girls deserved an award for this game as they all had impeccable teamwork on and off the court. The most impressive cheering bench as well.

They remain positive and some girls are showing a desire to learn new positions and improve!
Enjoy the break girls. We look forward to playing again in a couple of weeks!

Saturday was the best game our under-11s team has played all season.
The exceptional teamwork and dedication definitely showed on the court.
The coaches were so proud of our team and awards could’ve been given to everyone on the court.
Although u11s don’t score, we managed more than 10 goals this game and they should be very proud of themselves.
