The club wish to pass on their condolences to the both families at this time.
Chris and Tony gave an enormous amount of time and dedication to make the club a better place. Both will be sorely missed.
Coming off four straight wins, the boys were confident of adding Katamatite to their recent accomplishments on Saturday.
Wet conditions didn’t stop the fellas coming out, having a real crack and getting us off to a three goal lead at the first break.
An unfortunate yellow card to Jerilderie enforcer Marc Shaw ignited Katamatite’s fuse.
Brute strength from ruckman Tom ‘the tank’ Bryce ensured first use of the ball for midfielders Lachy Leeds and Benny Neessen, who set up sharp shooter forward Mitch Conlan with a second goal, as we held a 10-point lead going into half time.
With a real battle ensuing, serial pest Jye Holcombe drew the attention of the already aggravated opposition, with many tough contests as the back six held solid under waves of pressure.
A stalemate in the midfield was broken when speedster Kane Hawkins played on from a free kick, bamboozling the Katy man on the mark.
He proceeding to kick the goal from 55m out, the ball sailing over the goal umpire’s head.
The Dees held an 11-point lead at the last break, Katy came out firing and at one point gained the lead and looking to ice the game.
A tactical point from Tom Sleigh set up for an epic finish.
With the final play of the day, Graham O’Connell burst out of the backline with a game saving play, leading to our fearless leader Sam Sleigh in space, with only the goals in front.
Instead of blazing away at the goals, our selfless captain passed the ball out wide leading to the match winning goal from Blair Henery.
He slotted it from right in front with just seconds left.
The boys finished the home and away season with five straight wins against some classy opposition, giving us great momentum and confidence to take on Katamatite again in the first week of the finals at Berrigan.

It was another hard day for the under-17 Dees to finish off our season in wet conditions, and the boys did everything they could to stop Katamatite from scoring.
Throughout the game they played better and better, with Dan Eldridge never giving up in the middle, same goes for Tex Flack in the back line.
Tyler Hall and Adam Aylett both had a great game in the middle, with Tyler providing a lot of competition in the ruck and Adam giving plenty of run and pressure acts that helped us stem the flow of Katamatite’s ball movement.
The young Dees had a good game. Despite the scoreboard they never gave up and held their heads up high.
Best on: Dan Eldridge, Adam Aylett and Tex Flack.
Final Score: Jerilderie 0.1 (1) def by Katamatite 20.16 (136).
The fourths’s last game of the season saw them travel and only just go down in a nail biting loss.
The young Demon side stayed in the contest all day, but just couldn’t quite get over the line in the final quarter.
Everyone had a red hot go.
It’s been a great year with everyone’s commitment to training and game day intensity and skills improving out of sight.
Best on: Matt Dilullo, Charlie Rorato and Kizzi Moore.
