A-grade hit the court against the strong Nathalia side, hoping for the win to keep finals in sight.
The girls knew the game would be tough, coming up against one of the top teams, and the wet weather made it even tougher.
Injury and fatigue saw the team make some big changes to positions in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter saw another change in positions for the girls.
Throughout the game, the girls continued to fight for the ball and held their heads up.
The final score did not reflect the effort the girls put in on court.
Katie Archer received the McNaughts best on award for her continued drive and thirst for the ball, and for her strong voice and team encouragement the whole game.
Savannah Wilson received the Country Club voucher for her big efforts in defence.

Well winter really came at us with the wind, rain and cold.
The first half saw a lot of unforced errors from both teams, due to a slippery ball and a few tumbles were taken.
Our defence were kept busy and worked tirelessly, with some great rebounds.
The midcourt worked hard all game and created some good defensive cover, making Nathalia work for their positions.
It wasn’t our day, but every quarter was played with effort and to the girls’ credit they did not give up and enjoyed the team spirit.
Again thanks to the under-17s sitting in for us.

In our first wet game for the season, we went out to go slow and steady with short and sharp passing.
A wet, slippery ball and court made it tough, but the whole team played their role in their respective positions.
All the girls worked hard to put into practice some things we have been working on at training.
Best on Court went to Kirsty Clarke, who was dynamic while using her experience and steady hands off the line for centre passes and feeding into the ring.
The other award went to Michelle Purtill. Her drives through the midcourt and pressure on the attackers moving into the ring was amazing in WD.

A fabulous win by the girls in one of the wettest games we have played this season.
It was a slow start, as the girls worked their way into the game having to adjust game play in the conditions.
The girls had a terrific second and third quarter, which proved that our different shooting combinations are working very well together and growing in confidence.
Our ever reliable defence end was solid again, shutting down Nathalia’s shooting circle limiting their goals and displaying terrific rebounding.
Our midcourts were excellent again, driving the ball with fast footwork and sharp leads, and some impressive feeds into the ring.
All girls played their roles, with some great team work all over the court.
