Dees fall short on the court

Jerilderie have finished the Picola & District League season with two gruelling tests for all  netball sides.The Demons were in action twice within four days, playing against Berrigan on Wednesday and facing Blighty on Saturday.Results from their two clashes were as follows:Under 11s:Jerilderie vs Blighty no score recorded.All girls played with such enthusiasm and their training has showed all have improved immensely. The ball flowed up and down the court with Jerilderie’s Ruby Neessen showing great drive through the centre.Demons Teagan Aylett, Elizabeth Browne and Ella Coombs were quick to grab all the loose balls and send them into attack where Shaylee Burt, Jacinta Eldridge, Lillian Baker and Sama Swaid were on hand to shoot for goal. Award winners: Catie Michael, Cassady Sibraa, Kyah Watson, Emma Casanova and Eliza Culton.Under 13s: Berrigan 44 def. Jerilderie 6.Even though Jerilderie did not win, they showed their strength as a team. They moved the ball around well and were solid in their passes and getting it to their end. The Belling girls, Georgia and Ava, both showed their ability and Montana Aylett and Tiana Patu seemed to be constantly on the move. Maggie Maynard was a great asset with her height and Katy Wilkinson showed potential as a shooter. Shikaya Hall and Jess Wilkinson were determined all game and moved the ball well.   All the girls should be commended in this game and all showed how well they worked together in the positions they were given.Jerilderie 15 def Blighty 8.This game saw a huge improvement of play by all the young Demons, they had plenty of determination and drive which showed in the final score. Montana Aylett, Shikaya Hall and Ava Belling showing great pace and clean passes in the mid court while Jessica Wilkinson and Tiana Patu were unstoppable in defence deflecting many shots into the goal ring, while Katie Wilkinson and Georgia Belling worked with precision around the goals. Blighty awards: Katya Eddy and Gemma Macdonald.Under 15s:Berrigan 38 def. Jerilderie 24.Jerilderie came out firing against Berrigan with plenty of good passages of play and positional changes seeing the Dess cause turnovers many times but as in other weeks passing and positioning let them down in the end.Blighty 37 def. Jerilderie 23.A much improved Jerilderie team took to the court on Saturday. They Dees played a great defensive and attacking game but again their passing and positioning letting them down. Coming into the third quarter Jerilderie were only two goals down and playing a well disciplined game from both ends of the court. After a few strategic positional changes the team lost a bit of the momentum they had, but kept their chins up until the final whistle.Blighty awards: Sarah Hanmer, Eliza Bradford, Melina Tidcombe and Stevie Bateman.Under 17s:Berrigan 64 def. Jerilderie 13.Berrigan came out firing against the Demons on Wednesday night, however Jerilderie provided plenty of pressure all over the court.  The Under 17s Dees have made considerable improvement in their game each week, and should be very happy with their sportsmanship and encouragement of each other.Jerilderie 53 drew Blighty 53.The Demons kept their best game till last. They started off well, matching Blighty all over the court. Jemma and Josie Coombs were outstanding in the goals against a tough Blighty defence. Bridgit Hamilton, Elle Rochford and Lucy Simpson passed the ball in precisely to the shooters. Alex and Harmony Patu along with Sarah Wettenhall and Emma Hamilton were great in defence causing many turnovers. Blighty awards: Holly Amor, Gabby Clarke and Isabella McIlwain.
