The Finley Netball Club entered a fundraising team, comprising of Lauren Yeo, Elle Christian, Shania Bentley, Theodora Miaoudis, Kristy Clarke, Kylie Wooden, Karen Donkin, Elyse Price, Sasha Wood, Abbey Breust and Maicie Close.
As a team they raised $2891 and collectively ran more than 869kms throughout May.
Bentley and her teammates had to brave through changing weather and natural lighting patterns in order to reach the goal.
“It was definitely a challenge for me. Not being a runner it took a while to find momentum,” Bentley said.
“The hardest part was the freezing cold mornings and nights. Working full time also made it hard to find time as it gets dark so early.
“For my tactics I would run as far as I could each time I ran and do more on weekends when I had the time.
“The rest of the team all did really well with everyone completing their targets either walking or running. I think most of us exceeded our targets.”
The challenge would not have been successful without the generosity of the community.
The Finley team were able to smash their goal of raising $2000 for MS.
“The donations received are very generous and on behalf of the girls who completed The May 50K for Finley Netball club, I would like to thank everyone of you very much,” Bentley said.
“I will definitely give it another go next year, I think it’s a great way to support an amazing fundraiser and a great way to keep fit.”
While the challenge is over, donations are still being accepted.
