Batting first the Bloods were 2/15 early with the wickets of Reilly Rennick (0) and James Balcombe (10) falling quickly.
A 30 run stanza between Rahul Thakur (20) and Daniel Hibberd (seven) got the Bloods going in the right direction but the Tigers would bite back with both batsmen out with the score on 45.
From that point it was only a gutsy 36 from Andrew Lean that gave the Bloods’ score any respectability.
Lean was brutal on the pull shot, dispatching glorious boundaries through midwicket and also latching on to the cover drive with some excellent precision.
But with no support the innings fell away.
Lean was the last to go with Tocumwal all out for 104 in the 36th over.
Sam Dorsey led the way for the Tigers with the ball with 4/10 from his nine overs.
In reply the Tigers lost Andrew Erickson (four) plumb LBW to Andy Arthur (1/22 off 4.5) but were then able to build a strong second wicket partnership between Ash Saunders (54 not out) and Jeremy Van Zuyden (16).
The pair rode their luck and got the visitors in touch of victory.
Van Zuyden though was out with the score on 69 and with storm clouds brewing the weather was looking ominous.
Katty tried to force the pace and go to 2/80 before lightning, thunder and then torrential rain forced the players from the field.
It looked likely the rain may save the Bloods and force a draw, and puddles were in plentiful supply.
However the rain burst stopped and after a 90 minute delay, play resumed.
Katty now needed 25 runs from six overs and the Bloods could smell a chance of forcing a draw still.
However the Tigers wanted the points and wasted no time in blasting the final required runs.
Saunders and Dorsey (10 not out) saw the visitors to 2/105 and a comfortable win.
The Bloods’ first two day fixture sees them travel to CYU in a huge contest on Saturday.
Tocumwal’s Division One side had a bye on Saturday and will get an extra week off again this week, with the MVCA Division One comp having a general bye for the Australia Day weekend.
The Div. One Bloods will return to the pitch with a home game against Katamatite on Saturday, February 1.
