More than 120 people attended the breakfast, which was during the Eagle i Murray Football Netball League grand final day held Finley Apex Sports & Community Centre.
The special guests were former Australian cricketer and a current media commentator Kerry O’Keeffe and 2017 Young Australian of the Year and founder of Kindness Factory Kath Koschel.
‘‘It was an entertaining morning and the crowd was delighted with the guest speakers, especially Kath who inspired all,’’ Finley Cats president Ashley Haynes said.
As the morning drew in the crowd, the national anthems sung by Isabella Jackson to start the football and Sarah Orro to start the netball were met with loud applause.
‘‘They were the best renditions of the anthem I’ve ever heard. After they finished everyone in the audience would have had goosebumps; they were absolutely fantastic,’’ Mr Haynes said.
Gate numbers have not been released by the Murray NF League, but a large number of locals and visitors filled the grounds.
Finley locals circled the hometown Under 13 netball game in the morning and were in full voice to cheer the young Cats on.
They saw a huge performance by the young Cats who brought home the Grand Final victory on home soil (match report on page 16).
‘‘It was fantastic to have a local team engaged and to run out as eventual premiers,’’ Mr Haynes said.
The senior grand final game saw local Dela Gargaro toss the coin.
Hosting the grand final is a lot of responsibility for a club and a town but Mr Haynes said it was a ‘‘great opportunity to showcase the facilities’’.
He added that day was great for the community and was made possible by hard work and support from key sponsors.
‘‘It was a great showcase for our town and we’re very proud of the facilities we have to offer. It was also good to see all three levels of government represented with Berrigan Shire Council mayor Matt Hannan, Member for Murray Helen Dalton and Member for Farrer Sussan Ley all in attendance.
‘‘Our partners Eagle i Machinery and the Berrigan Shire Council were very supportive and contributed a great deal to running the event.’’
