The Chaplin Pairs event was a resounding success.
The weather conditions were ideal, the greens ran exceptionally well and both greens had players from Oaklands, Jerilderie, Berrigan, Barooga, Wunghnu, Tocumwal and Melbourne.
The winning combination were Peter Revel and Graham King, (Wunghnu) with 3 games and 22 shots up runners up were Rodger Carter and Lois Bird, (Tocumwal), with 2and a half wins, 3rd place : Terry Chaplin's team,(Jerilderie), 4th Paul and Matt Murphy(Melbourne).
Best game margin 1st game Ron Bonat (Oaklands), 2nd game Elaine Blizzard and Carol Wigg, (Barooga), 3rd game Tracey Miles and Poore Bob (Finley).
Terry Chaplin presented the prize money and responded on behalf of the Chaplin family.
This special day was well supported and it reflected on the efforts of Elaine and Mick to promote bowls, particularly in this district.
Unfortunately Mick was unable to attend through him being hospitalised, in Finley.
We wish him a speedy recovery.

The finals of the Holy Shield will be played at Berrigan, on Sunday, 25th August commencing at 10.30am.
Teams chosen to represent the club are: Ash Haines, B Anderson, M Milthorpe; N Barnes, T Hansford, G Trevorrow; H Tabe, L Walsh, B Poore.
Players are asked to be at the club by 9.30am to arrange transport.
All other players, from all participating clubs, are invited to take part in the mixed clubs draw for partner event.
This has been a successful Round Robin competition involving Oaklands, Jerilderie, Berrigan and Finley.
Forty-three poker players held a tournament last Saturday to celebrate Ian Swain's birthday.
Three players split most of the cash; two players from Albury and Nicole Hargreaves,(Finley), shared the $1750 pool.

The days are starting to get a little longer and that means bowls season is on the horizon.
For those bowlers looking to improve this season, remember Geoff Blake will be at the club from 3-5pm every Thursday to offer coaching advice.
Bowlers wishing to play Saturday pennant are also asked to put their name down on the noticeboard.
The finals of the Holy Shield tournament will be played this Sunday at Berrigan.
Oaklands will play Jerilderie for first prize while Berrigan will take on Finley in the third/fourth playoff. This event has been a great success and will only improve next year.
All bowlers competing in the intra-club winter round robin singles are asked to arrange and finish their games by September 15. Finals must be played before the end of September.
The annual pre-season bus trip will be to Mathoura this year on Sunday, September 15.
A seat on the bus will cost $20 with lunch at the bowls club bistro at your own expense.
Social bowlers and partners are also welcome to attend. Spots on the bus are limited so get your name on the sheet early.
