Berrigan
Round three of the Holy Shield was played at Jerilderie on Sunday and for the second round running Berrigan was defeated narrowly despite winning more rinks than the opposition.
This time it was Oaklands that managed to get over the top of Berrigan, winning 82 to 79 (12-6) – maintaining their undefeated record.
Roger Reynoldson’s rink won two games, as did Barry Hutchinson and Rick Bradbury – but all except Reynoldson also conceded a big loss.
The loss forced Berrigan back to third place after the round-robins.
Oaklands finished on top undefeated, with Jerilderie second - two pints ahead of Berrigan - and Finley finishing fourth.
The finals will be played at Berrigan on 25 August 2019.
Oaklands will play Jerilderie in the Grand Final and Berrigan will take on Finley in the third place play-off.
As well as the final, non-competing bowlers from all clubs are invited to attend for a draw-for-partners social day to be played concurrently.
The singles round-robin event is coming to a close and those bowlers with matches to play are encouraged to arrange for them to be completed.
Membership forms have been sent out and are due and payable. Contact the club if you have not received your membership form.
Berrigan Community Bowls Club has put forward a My Community Project application for an automated watering system for its greens.
This project if successful will make maintaining the greens much easier for our ageing volunteer base.
All bowlers, in Berrigan and elsewhere are encouraged to vote for this project via the My Community Project website.
