Unprecedented cost increases, as a result of demand across all sectors of the building industry, meant the original operating budget of $400,000 became unattainable.
There was a short lived threat of the golf club having to reconsider its development plans before Kyabram’s Community Bank, Kyabram Club and Kyabram based businesses helped to solve the funding shortfall.
The project has so far involved major extensions to the clubhouse which, when completed, will result in a significantly enhanced facility which is expected to fill a void in the community.
The next stage in the project will involve the construction of a new office and improved access to the alfresco/verandah extensions. When this is completed, work will commence on the renovation and upgrading of the clubhouse interior.
Kyabram Community Bank last week signed off on a $25,000 sponsorship to the golf club, hot on the heels of a $25,0000 Kyabram Club contribution.
That, and successful “contractor led’’ support, means the club’s vision for the project is back on track.
Parkland Golf Club president Greg Ryan said the club could not have completed the project without generous support of organisations such as the Kyabram Community Bank.
Mr Ryan said the $400,000 provided to local organisations by the Kyabram Community Bank, since its establishment in 2016, was evidence as to why “we all should be supporting our community bank’’.
He said the combined injection of $50,000 from the two community minded organisations, along with significant financial contributions to the club’s fund raising appeal by the wider business community and golf club members had gotten things to “stay on track”.
“While the donation of the community bank was a key component of the expanded budget, Kyabram district companies involved in the re-development have also played a significant role.
“Support from Dale Denham Design, Pigatto Constructions, together with Brady Electrical, Steve and Brad Warde, Paul Coleman Contracting, Terry McCormick, Kyabram Steel & Fabrication and Len Price & Associates has been fantastic.
“We would not have progressed this far without them and other businesses and individuals,” he said.
Mr Ryan also gave special recognition to the magnificent effort of the band of club volunteers who have worked on the project since the first sod was turned.
