Tristar was one of the largest privately-owned health service providers in Australia when it went into voluntary administration on May 24.
It had 29 clinics across regional areas in Victoria, NSW, South Australia, Queensland, the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory, including Kialla.
At the time, administrator McGrathNicol said the group would continue operating while options for a sale and/or recapitalisation were explored, and that there had been a “pleasing level of initial interest” from parties considering purchasing or investing in the group.
Now, the owner of another network of GP clinics, Family Doctor, has announced the purchase of a dozen of the Tristar practices.
The Tristar purchases include Ballarat, Coffs Harbour, Deer Park, Eaglehawk, Epping, Epsom, Horsham, Kangaroo Flat, Mildura, Sebastopol, Sunbury and Wodonga, with the sale due to be completed on August 19.
Family Doctor said, as part of the sale, it had ensured all transferring doctors within the 12 practices would be paid their full arrears, and it would assume employee entitlements of all transitioning staff.
Family Doctor describes itself as wholly doctor-owned and operated by Dr Rodney Aziz, and as one of the largest operators of medical practices in Australia, with 60 clinics across five states.
A spokesperson for McGrathNicol confirmed to the News that the 12 centres listed by Family Doctor were subject to the sale agreement.
However, the spokesperson could not confirm what future lay ahead for the Kialla practice.
The spokesperson said discussions were continuing between the administrator and other parties interested in purchasing some of the other centres, but which ones could not be confirmed.
