New outdoor exercise stations are being installed in Cobram and Yarrawonga by council.
A council spokesperson said Cobram would be getting a new outdoor gym in Cox Park on Toms drive, complete with equipment designed to allow users to do aerobic, strength and flexibility workouts.
“Yarrawonga will have its existing gym expanded, including new equipment and renewing the rubber surface,” the spokesperson said.
“It will also have two new exercise stations installed in parks off Freddy court and Peter Thomson circuit.”
The projects are a joint venture, funded by the Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund and Moira Shire Council.
The initiative has received mixed reactions on council’s Facebook page, with some criticising the choice of location for the equipment in Cobram.
“At the river would (be) better as many people exercise down there or go through there,” Tania wrote.
“These would be fabulous at Thompson’s Beach with the amount of people that walk, run, cycle, various sporting group trainings, yoga sessions etc there, Shelley wrote.”
