Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said these programs are about “backing our community, whether that’s supporting grassroots organisations, improving facilities or helping students pursue their education”.
Ten recipients will share in almost $20,000 under the Murrumbidgee Council Community Grants Program. They are:
• St Peter’s Primary School Coleambally - $2000 for the purchase of new sporting equipment.
• St Joseph’s Church Jerilderie - $2000 for phase two of rising damp maintenance works.
• Jerilderie Public School P&C - $2000 toward a three-day outdoor education excursion for Years 3 to 6.
• Toganmain Woolshed Precinct Inc - $2000 for the reinstallation of ceilings in the kitchen and dining hall.
• Jerilderie Football Netball Club - $1,940.72 for Auskick resources and netball training bibs.
• Jerilderie Sports Club - $2000 for golf clubs and a buggy for community use.
• Jerilderie Cricket Club Inc - $2000 for wall-mounted oscillating mister fans at Monash Park.
• St Joseph’s Jerilderie - $1,600 for a two-week intensive swimming program.
• Cypress View Lodge Residential Aged Care Facility - $2,000 for the replacement of a medication trolley.
• CWA Coleambally-Argoon - $2000 for a six-week wellbeing program for women aged 40 to 65.
Another six projects have been supported through the Coleambally Solar Farm Community Grants Program. They are:
• St Peter’s Primary School, Coleambally - $3000 toward a sport and recreation excursion.
• Darlington Point Coleambally Rugby League Football Club - $2000 toward the VEO game day camera annual fee.
• Coleambally Community Club - $3000 for an ice machine.
• Coleambally Central School P&C - $1,975 for swimming lessons.
• Murrumbidgee Community Experimental/Demonstration Farm - $10,000.
Neoen Australia’s chief operating officer Pedro Gonçalves said the organisation is proud that the Coleambally Solar Farm is supporting local initiatives that deliver long-term benefits.
“Through our Community Grants Program, we are committed to investing in projects that strengthen community wellbeing, support young people and enhance local facilities,” Mr Gonçalves said.
Council also announced that the Lions Club of Darlington Point grant was awarded to the Country Education Foundation of Coleambally/Darlington Point.
It also awarded education scholarships valued at $1000 each to support local students in their ongoing studies, to Ava Belling, Michalla Bright, and Isla Burns.
“We are proud to partner with community organisations to deliver initiatives that strengthen our community and create opportunities for people of all ages,” Cr McRae said.
