The sudden disappearance of the glider has left locals to question its future location.
Although the Berrigan Shire Council is yet to decide where its future lies, it has narrowed it down to three options.
‘‘It is currently being stored at a hangar at the Tocumwal aerodrome,’’ general manager Rowan Perkins said.
‘‘Its future is unclear although there are lots of schools of thought.
‘‘The decision hasn’t been made but it could end up at Ingo Renner Park, in the new Historic Aerodrome Museum or it can return to the foreshore.
‘‘We’ve signed the contract and the construction company now has control of the site, there’s still a lot of unknowns in our current climate but we are hoping the project can be completed by May 31, 2021.
‘‘After that we will be able to see where the glider will best fit.’’
Once the information centre building has been demolished, construction will begin on the new foreshore building that will host a second floor restaurant and numerous rooms on the ground level.
The chosen design was costed at $1,778,000 by architect Marie Le Touze and local company D & M Bowden Constructions who have now been passed the responsibility from council.
