Last week he started his new role as principal at St Joseph’s School in Jerilderie.
He comes to Jerilderie from St Patrick’s School in Holbrook where he was acting principal.
Mr Carey has also taught at Henscke Primary School in Wagga, St Joseph’s School in Junee and was principal at St Joseph’s in Culcairn from 1999 to 2015.
He relocated to Holbrook in 2016.
In addition to leading the school as acting principal, and was the religious education coordinator, digital pedagogy leader and a member of the learning collaborative.
He has also trained in reading recovery.
“I'm very pleased to have secured accommodation in Jerilderie and hope to participate as much as I can in the local and district activities and contribute to the community,” Mr Carey said.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to be leading such a wonderful school with a strong supportive community.
“I will work with the St Joseph’s, Jerilderie parent community and teachers to provide all students with an opportunity to grow and succeed.
“I will work to articulate the values and attitudes that St Joseph’s, Jerilderie is known for and support the professional growth of our teaching staff in 2020.”
