In recent times the 16 year-old has proven herself as one of Finley’s fastest rising talents both on the netball court and the footy field.
It’s been a busy year for Lily, playing in representative teams for both sports, as well as starring at club level.
The goal defence has had an outstanding season of netball, playing against some of the best country netballers in the Ovens & Murray League with Yarrawonga.
Lily is a regular fixture in the A grade side for the Pigeons, who look set to feature in finals this year sitting fourth on the ladder with seven wins.
Her talent saw her feature at the Victorian Association State Championships, where she represented the O&M.
She also played netball at the NSW CHSSA State Championships for the Riverina side that finished fifth overall.
‘‘It was a good experience playing against the state’s best,’’ Lily said.
‘‘I played the majority of the time at GD but also played a little bit of time in GK.’’
While playing netball since Under 11s, a new passion has arisen for Lily with her natural athletic ability helping her on the footy field.
Lily was selected for the Murray Bushrangers Futures Squad this year, even managing to play six games in the 2019 NAB League Girls competition as a bottom-age player.
The Finley Wildcats player was also recognised at state level with her footy, being selected to play for the U16 GWS Giants in May.
After playing two games with the Giants against the Sydney Swans, Lily was picked in the NSW/ACT Rams side.
‘‘We played against Vic Metro as part of the AFLW U16s carnival at Melbourne last month,’’ she said.
‘‘I played mainly at half forward and fed the ball to the forwards. I enjoy my footy and especially love tackling.
‘‘I still haven’t decided which way I’m going to go sporting wise, whether I focus on footy or netball.
‘‘A lot of doors have opened up for me, particularly with footy, but I just aim to keep playing as much sport as possible.
‘‘I’ve had a lot of good coaches for both sports over the years so I’d like to thank them for helping me develop my skills.
‘‘I’d also like to thank my parents for taking me to all of my sporting events and for all of their support.’’
