The Bloods were within two points during the third term, but the Redeyes lifted to sew up the win, inaccurate kicking of 13.19 the only thing preventing them from a bigger margin.
The result means Blighty ended the round ninth on the ladder, level on wins with eighth-ranked Jerilderie yet three per cent behind.
Tanner Robertson, Lachie MacDonald and Tyler Amor-Beale were best for the Redeyes, with strong performances from Beau Close, Darcy Morris and Tom Druitt.
Jacob Hore, Sam Rennie, Cory Parish and Ken Chellew did what they could for the winless Bloods, and were brave in a losing effort.
Final score, Blighty 13.19 (97) to Tocumwal 8.11 (59).
Blighty playing-coach Jack Tyndall, who kicked two goals on Saturday, said it was good to get that winning feeling back at the club.
‘‘Tocumwal took it right up to us so we were a little bit nervous during the third term when they were within two points,’’ he said.
‘‘But to our credit we fought back and ran the game out, which has been a problem of ours this year.
‘‘We tend to run out of legs because we’ve had blokes playing two full games of footy, but this week our last quarter was our best.
‘‘There was a fair bit of enjoyment during and after the game. With the way the results have gone this season we have made it a big point to just go out there and enjoy our footy.
‘‘It’s obviously easier to enjoy it after a win but if we can keep this vibe going and string a few wins together we might just sneak into finals.’’
Blighty’s win on Saturday was made more impressive with the list of key outs from the contest, which included skipper Sam Singleton, Tom Billings, Jack Bunnett and Daniel Smits.
Tyndall said it was some of the younger troops who stood tall late in the game.
‘‘Kane Morris came up from the thirds and kicked an absolute cracker of a goal,’’ he said.
‘‘He kicked it from an impossible angle, so that really got us up and about.
‘‘It also had the crowd on their feet which was great to see, considering it was sponsors’ day.
‘‘It was pleasing to go out and get a win for those sponsors who support our club, because it’s been a tough year.
‘‘We’re looking forward to the bye this week and should hopefully get a few back from injury after the break.’’
The Redeyes will have a daunting task when they travel to Memorial Park to face rival Deni Rovers on Saturday, July 20.
Blighty’s reserves also helped cap off a great day for the club, scoring a 63 point win over the Bloods.
The Redeyes were dominant in defence, holding the visitors goalless until the last quarter.
Final score, Blighty 11.13 (79) to Tocumwal 2.4 (16).
Brent Mitchell was declared Blighty’s best with Luke Hay, Luke Charlton, Jarrod Andrews and Josh Ventrella also having notable performances.
For the Bloods it was Tom Gordon who stood out, kicking Tocumwal’s two goals in the final term.
