The June Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association Competition round was played on the Captain’s Course at Tocumwal Golf on Monday and was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the Par 3 second hole by Neil Graham from the Berrigan Community Golf and Bowls Club.
It was the first ace in the almost 30 years of SRVGA play.
Brian Oldham (Cobram Barooga) on 35 points took the A Grade trophy after countback from Wayne Knowles (Yarrawonga/Mulwala).
B Grade winner with 46 points was Tony Simons (Finley) with John Redpath (Yarrawonga Mulwala) on 37 runner-up.
Sam Condy (Cobram/Barooga) on 40 points took C grade with Zol Zolnierczyk (Cobram/Barooga) runner-up on 37.
NTP on the 2nd was Neil Graham (Berrigan), on the 8th Tony Simons (Finley), on the 14th Stephen Blackley (Yarrawonga/Mulwala) and on the 17th it was Steven Ambrose (Yarrawonga/Mulwala).
Finley
Deborah Pyke with 90 off the stick and a 69 net collected the Daily Trophy along with the scratch and net medals at Wednesday’s JT & EN Close Monthly Medal stroke day.
Janet Delmenico with 27 putts took the putting trophy. Ball competition winners were Joanne Dean (73) and Anne Harding (75).
Barry Wilson with 38 stableford points stepped into the winner’s circle at the Country Club men’s competition on Wednesday.
NTP was Leo McNamara. Ball Competition winners were Alan Hand (37) and Leo McNamara (36). The Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA trophy was taken out by Beau Makkinga.
At the Thursday afternoon Play 9 Stroke competition it was Bill Judd with 35 net who collected the voucher.
Ball competition winners were Andrew Higgins and Peter Orro who each had 37.5 net.
The Mark’s Trimming and Upholstery Stroke event was played on Saturday.
Marty Piggin with 69 net won the men’s Division One trophy with Chick Braybon on 73 net the winner in Division Two.
Kellie White with 74 net claimed the ladies trophy and her 25 putts gave her the ladies putting trophy. NTP on the 18th went to Dale Pyke. Ball competition winners were Leo McNamara (71), Dale Pyke (74), Eric Dean (74), Rand Wilson (74), Enid Bain (78) and Sue Simpson (78).
The McDonald’s NAGA Trophy went to Beau Makkinga.
On Sunday it was the NAB Agribusiness stableford day. Grant Wilson with 41 points was the winner in the men’s division while Sue Simpson won the ladies with 34.
Marian Ayres was NTP on the 13th and Leo McNamara on the 18th.
Ball competition winners were Rodger Sutton (40), Darren John (39), Robert Daniel (36), Marian Ayres (31) and Margaret Lemsing (31).
At the weekend stableford will be played on Saturday and on Sunday it’s Monthly Medal/Club Brooch with a barbecue meal to follow.
Tocumwal
The ladies had a Mulligans Day with best two of four stableford on Tuesday last week, with the winners being Jil Loversidge, Denise Huy, Rhonda Constable and Gale Tyers.
Runners-up were Carol Irvine, Beverly Campbell, Judy Foreshew and Mary McLeay.
Wednesday’s stroke event saw Division One go to Martin Studwick with 69 net on countback from Darren John.
Neville Smith was the Division Two winner with 70 with Joe Sacco winning Division Three with 68.
NTPs went to Stephen Nonneman 2nd, John Henry 14th, Martin Studwick Pro Pin $49.
Men’s Gold winner was Allan Penny 82.
On Saturday stableford was played with ladies Division One going to Di Mitchell with 34 points. Cheryl Rossborough was the Division Two winner with 30.
NTPs went to Kerry Conrad 2nd, Sandra Williams 18th.
Men’s Division One winner was Brian Wilson who had 39 and Division Two went to Norm Brosnan (Anzac) with 36. John Carol was the Division Three winner with 38.
NTP went to Norm Brosnan 2nd, Charley McKenna 18th.
Men’s Gold winner was Allan Penny 36.
Ladies winner for stableford on Sunday was Petra Wilmot with 37 points. NTP went to Gale Tyers 2nd.
Men’s Division One was won by Denis Myers with 41.
Albert Adams was the Division Two winner with 39 while Division Three went to Bruce Cavanaugh who had 37 points, on countback from Leonard Redfern. NTPs went to Neville Attrill 2nd, Ross Sidebottom 17th.
Men’s Gold winner was Graeme Sharp with 35 on countback from Allan Penny.
Berrigan
Joe Nicholls (45-10.5-34.5) was the stroke winner on Friday. Runner-up was Jeremy O’Dwyer (44-8.5-33.5), who also won the putting with 13 putts and ball winner was Neil Graham.
Sunday’s stableford event saw Joe Nicholls still on the winner’s list with a score of 35, winning on a countback to Doug Cameron. Ball winner was Matthew Whelan with 30 points.
Club Championships start on Sunday and continue for the next three weeks.
