A growing event on both the Finley and Berrigan calendars, this year’s family friendly atmosphere promises not to disappoint.
As usual the course will be in excellent condition and bring an exciting afternoon of pure country racing.
The five race race card includes the $10,000 main event the Finley Autumn Cup — won last year by Berrigan trainer Paul McVicar with Maco Napret.
His six year-old gelding has been nominated for Saturday with acceptances to be declared by Thursday at 9am.
The Finley Autumn Cup isn’t just about the races, there’s also a great chance for the ladies to show off their best outfits and fascinators.
Fashions on the Field will be running again this year with plenty of prizes up for grabs.
Colour schemes of black and white, grey with a brighter colour or darker pastel tones with cream are set to dominate the autumn fashion, on what it expected to be a warm day with the sun shining.
Each year has seen a different winner for the top prize, with Kirsty Davis claiming Lady of the Day in 2018.
The categories for Fashions on the Field are as follows:
●Essential Hair & Beauty 1st Prize Lady of the Day.
●Daisy Mae Giftware 2nd Prize Lady of the Day.
●Country Club Couple of the Day.
●Hutcheon & Pearce John Deere Little Race Goer Under 10 Years.
●Con Carr Young Race Goer 11-18 Years.
Berrigan Race Club secretary Carolyn Alexander said she’s thrilled to have racing return to the Southern Riverina this weekend.
‘‘It’s forecast to be a warm sunny day which is perfect for racing.
‘‘As usual the course is looking fabulous with plenty of green grass and inviting for the horses and punters.
‘‘Saturday is all about having a stress free afternoon so come out and enjoy the country racing atmosphere.
‘‘Hopefully everyone backs a winner,’’ Ms Alexander said.
The day will also feature a large public bar, and of course there are bookmakers and TAB available.
All tickets are available at the gates, opening at 11am, with general admission $20, pensioners $10 and children 16 and under entering for free.
