The Finley Under 11s girls took advantage of the scheduled bye to compete in a round robin at Shepparton on Saturday.
Organised by the Murray Netball League, the Kittens played in eight games, winning two.
Netball president Sasha Wood said the day was a learning experience to the young players.
‘‘It gives the girls a game and allows them to try out in new positions.
‘‘The more court time they have the better it is for their development.
‘‘It also gives them an opportunity to socialise and meet new players; we play a lot of sport against Deni and Barooga including school sport.
‘‘All of these girls will be playing each other for many years to come so now they can meet each other and get to know their opponents a bit better.’’
Wood added the girls played well under the ‘‘brilliant’’ leadership of 13 year-old coach Ruby Russell.
‘‘She’s been fantastic,’’ Wood said.
‘‘Ruby is a role model and the young girls look up to her despite her age.
‘‘She’s helped throughout the season and takes the under 11s netball training on a Thursday night.’’
