Courtney Young (Berrigan), Anna Jewell (Finley) and Gillian Leeds (Jerilderie) were each interviewed by former Finley local Kathy Mexted for the publication.
Kathy is now a freelance writer living in Kilmore. Her cookbook contains about 80 recipes and 18 stories.
Kathy said she was approached by the book’s editor Jody Vassallo to write about female farmers.
‘‘Jody wanted to help farmers across New South Wales so she put the message out on Facebook and the next morning had about 120 replies,’’ Kathy said.
‘‘She acquired other celebrity chefs and I came quite late in the piece when she asked me to do something.
‘‘I needed to find a rice farmer and a wheat farmer and they also had to be women.’’
Part of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Country Women’s Association, to be used to support rural communities, with more than $80,000 riased so far.
