The local club members were delighted to have Cobram Rotary president Robert Love and members of the Cobram Rotary Club join the celebration.
There is plenty of history between the Finley and Cobram clubs with the latter being the initial sponsors who chartered the Finley Rotary Club.
The district governor Malcolm Kerr and his wife Jill, assistant district governor Chris Sutton, Tocumwal Rotary president Aileen Phelan and the club’s members, former Deniliquin Rotary president Martin Wilmshurst and Finley Rotary Club members past and present were all in attendance.
Finley president Debbie Jewell welcomed all those in attendance and called on historian Ken Gray to mention the charter members.
Finley Rotary’s inaugural president was Jack Stowe, with other founding board members including secretary Wally Taylor and treasurer Jack Crockett.
Some of the original 21 members included Fred Burton, Rolly Atkinson, Dr Syd Vear, Keith Hawkins, Keith Angus and John Hetrelezis.
One of the highlights of the meeting was a presentation made to Brian and Betsy Phillips marking Brian’s 50 years in Rotary.
Mr Kerr also presented a Rotary International plaque for its 60th anniversary to Mrs Jewell.
The Finley Rotary Club is proud to note some of their achievements over this timeframe raised through running fundraisers.
