The donation was made in honour of Annette Bain, who died of cancer in November last year and was a dedicated member of both not-for-profit organisations, including a stint as the vice president of the Finley Hospital Auxiliary Op Shop.
Her husband Gilbert, a member of the Recharge Group, said she loved working at the op shop.
Auxiliary president Lesley Wilson said the money will go towards installing new insulation in the roof.
‘‘The building is about 110 years old,’’ she said.
‘‘We can have five air conditioners and they blow all day on the hot days and we can barely feel it.
‘‘It can be unbearable and that’s why we’re spending the money on insulation.’’
The Deniliquin Recharge Support Group has members from Mathoura, Blighty and Finley.
It collects old car and truck batteries, and sells them to a recycling firm in Wagga Wagga to raise funds for people living with the financial burden of long-term medical treatment.
‘‘We ensure the money we receive goes back to the people who really need it,’’ Mr Bain said.
‘‘It’s not cash but we can provide fuel vouchers if you need to drive to Melbourne for medical reasons or we could pay for someone’s electricity bill.’’
