Witnesses allege to have seen the man slap and punch a pre-teen girl, reportedly a relative, about 4pm on Tuesday, August 13.
Witnesses told police a verbal argument escalated between the two, resulting in the man chasing and hitting the girl.
When she tried to seek refuge inside the home, he reportedly tried to throw a glass bottle at her and hit the house instead.
She was allegedly chased in to the back yard and, when she was on the ground, hit a number of times to various parts of her body.
When the home's occupants asked the man to leave he allegedly became aggressive.
He is alleged to have punched a fly screen door, putting a hole in the wire and connecting with the occupant on the other side. Witnesses said the man also kicked the door and a number of pot plants as he was leaving the property.
The man was arrested later in the day and charged. An apprehended violence order restricting contact with the young girl has been put in place.

Fuel was stolen from a Berrigan service station during a 'fail to pay' incident on August 17.
CCTV footage shows a blue utility pulled up to a bowser about 2.20pm and began dispensing petrol. It showed noone went inside to pay before the ute left.
Police said checks revealed the ute was showing false number plates, leading them to believe it had been stolen.
A similar vehicle has been linked to a spate of fuel thefts across the district, particularly in Victoria.
Inquiries are continuing.
