Jerilderie’s Nick Gray and Finley’s Warwick Doolan drew for top spot in the local competition with their dogs Lara and Diesel at the Finley sheep dog trials recently.
But it was Mick Hudson, from Emungerie, who took out the Open competition with his companion Ritchies Finn.
Held at Finley Showgrounds between June 6 and 10, Mr Gray and Mr Doolan shared the spoils in the local competition, both scoring 40 points, beating out Hugh Burton and Jet, who scored 28 to finish third.
Mr Hudson won the Open category comprising six competitors, defeating Paul Darmody (Bungendore) and Annaway Dotti, who finished second. Laurie Slater with Zeefree Marlon, and Paul O’Kane (Cobram East) with O’Kane’s Charles Dickens, finished equal third.
In the Novice class, Russell Percival from Gundagai was successful with his dog Tarcoola Lady (15). Mr Percival was also successful in the Improver class, with his dog Tarcoola Wally placing second.
