It was a big day on Saturday for the Berrigan Community Bowls Club with its 2020/21 season open day, its 2020 annual general meeting and its much-delayed 2019/20 presentation all held.
A group of 34 bowlers, including some new faces, turned up for the season open day.
The day included the ceremonial first kitty and bowl from the reigning ladies and men’s club champions.
Results from play on the day saw the team of Beth Bashford, Roy Edwards, Neville Burke and Kura Goldsmith, with a cameo from Barry Hutchinson, finish as winners.
The annual general meeting saw the existing bowls executive returned to office – Garry Seamer as president, Elaine Hawkins as vice president and Graeme Parr as secretary.
Along with an active bowls committee, the 2020/21 season looks to be a positive one for the club – COVID-19 permitting.
The highlight of the 2019/20 presentation evening was coach Geoff Blake’s special awards with Beth Bashford, Myles Humphries and David Fox all recognised for their hard work and improvement last season.
Other awards on the evening were:
