Toc. fall short in both divisions

It was a tough day at the office for the Bloods’ Premier side on Saturday in MVCA action, with Barooga flexing its muscle and proving far to strong.It was a bitter pill to swallow for Tocumwal who now sit with three straight losses to start the season.Batting first, the Bloods were skittled in the early stages losing 3/10 to be in all sorts of bother. Ranji Oliver (10) and Andrew Lean (15) added 20 runs for the fourth wicket and tried to take the sting out of the Hawks punch.But when Oliver ran past one it signalled a further collapse of wickets.It was left to stalwart Andrew Jones (36 no) to put something on the board for the hosts. Together with Christina Roberts (9) the pair added 25 runs in an important regard action.Jones was in great touch taking three important wickets and scampering over the wicket to get every precious run.The Bloods eventually reached 9/88 from its 45 overs.The meagre total was never really going to prove a threat to the strong Barooga lineup.Jamie Stanyer (27) and Daniel Ellis (29 no) easily negotiated the early overs and had the run rate flying.A wicket to Reilly Rennick (1/24) was the only positive for the Bloods with a superb outfield catch by Patrick Bennett being claimed.Justin Maley (19 no) got the Hawks home with nine wickets to spare.The Bloods have a week off now before travelling to Deniliquin for round four.The Division One Bloods were defeated by 67 runs by Katamatite on Saturday.In a rain shortened fixture, the Bloods sent the hosts. The Tigers reached a formidable 5/234 from its 33 overs.Matt Wright was brilliant, scoring a huge 110.A handy 56 from Steve Dawson kept the Tigers in control for the majority of the batting innings.Only Aaron MacFadyen delivered strongly with the ball snaring 4/32 from his eight overs in yet another strong performance.The Bloods battled gamely in reply with Joshua MacFadyen posting a well made 88 which included 12 fours and three sixes.Aaron MacFadyen (22), Angus MacFadyen (18) and Paul Mangion (15 no) all got runs as well but were ultimately caught well short of the victory target closing at 7/167.The Division One Bloods have a couple of weeks off now before their next fixture against Finley.
