Members of Finley Fire and Rescue NSW displayed their own mark of respect on Anzac Day as the march they usually take part in was unable to be held.
At dawn, lights were switched on at the station as well as on the fire truck and poppies and helmets with current officers’ names were displayed out front.
Fire Captain Brian O’Hora expressed thanks to his family, Jenny, Allison and Patrick for making all of this possible.

Finley Men's Shed fellows are anxiously waiting for the time they can once again assemble at the venue in Murray Street.
However, many have remained active even though confined to home.
One member of the community presented Peter Wilson with a special sheet of glass with the request it be used as part of a coffee table. It is amazing what Peter was able to produce.
This is only one example of the knowledge, experience and skills these gentlemen have the chance to use at the Men's Shed.

Local historian Peter Hamilton keeps coming up with very interesting articles from earlier years in the town.
One such excerpt published in the Cobram Courier on June 27, 1918 states:
“Ex-Sergeant Allan Tongs, of Finley, has started business in that town as a stock and general commission agent, and seeks a share of any business that might be going. Sergeant Tons wrote about the finest account of a stout at Pozieres we have ever read, and if he can talk business as well as he can write a descriptive report then he ought to prosper,” the article read.
Another article which appeared in the Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser on June 1, 1944 is as follows:
“Finley Soldier Receives Award. Award of the Military Cross to Lieut. G.H. Atkinson, of Finley, for bravery in action in New Guinea was announced on Wednesday of last week. Lieut. Atkinson’s skilful leadership of a patrol led to the occupation of Bogadjim, and patrolling towards Madang began. Bogadjim area was cleared and pushing northwards, the wide, deep and crocodile-infested Gogol River was hazardously crossed by rubber dinghy. Encountered a mile south of Madang, the enemy was forced from his positions by skilful manoeuvring and determined pressure and Madang was entered.”
