Berrigan's Mrs Kennedy attended the three day function at the Chicago Convention Centre earlier this month where she met with over 700 Lions delegates from around the world.
The training was arranged to provide a whole organisation based training for Lions who will be leaders of their districts for 12 months.
They will be working with their local Lions clubs to ensure Lions continue to provide service for communities into the future.
While there were some language barriers at the conference this was overcome by being split into small groups and where necessary the use of interpreters.
“My time in Chicago was very informative and it was nice to work with vice district governors from all around the world,” Mrs Kennedy said.
Throughout the three day conference Mrs Kennedy attended meetings and seminars from 8am to 6pm, leaving little time to explore the surrounding city.
“The days were quite long starting early and finishing right up until dinner,” she said.
“I didn't have too much time to see Chicago but the scenery of snow covered surrounds was really nice.
“The temperature was well below freezing which was quite different to home.”
“We also travelled to the Lions International head office for a quick tour.”
Mrs Kennedy will now attend another training day before the international convention in Singapore in June before beginning her role as District Governor in July.
