The annual event saw 28 students from 10 schools across the district — including Finley and Jerilderie public schools — attend the overnight camp, which was held at the old Regent Theatre home of the Deniliquin Baptist Church on Thursday and Friday.
The camp — which was organised by Mathoura Public School — was led by nine dance instructors and groups who specialise in a range of styles.
Vicki Ackers offered her dancing expertise on ballroom dance and the jive, while Anita Ingram gave students a lesson in line dancing.
Dominique Jansen instructed a belly dancing workshop, Molly Jones ran a class in hip-hop and acro dance, Jemma Keast ran ballet and Jacqueline Kornmann taught tap, lyrical and contemporary.
Jenna Purtill gave lessons in jazz ballet while organiser Allana Moorse offered rhythmic gymnastics classes and special guests, the Deniliquin High School Indigenous students, taught traditional cultural dance.
‘‘Students enjoyed showing their dances to parents and guests in the final presentation,’’ Mrs Moorse said.
‘‘This finale also gave parents and guests a chance to see some of the styles of dance the students had been exposed to.
‘‘The students always enjoy learning a variety of styles and it is great to see them develop those skills over the two days.
‘‘It’s the fifth year the Aspire Me Dance Camp has operated and while we had less numbers than last year, it is still proving to be very popular.’’
Students from Deniliquin South, North and Edward, Mathoura, Blighty, Moama, Barham and Coleambally public schools also attended.
