Council makes sign changes

May 30, 2018

Eagle-eyed Finley residents would have noticed changes to the town entry signs on the Newell Highway.

The upgraded signs have a black outline on the word ‘Finley’ and include a raised dark blue backdrop.

It ends a three month request by Finley Chamber of Commerce to the Berrigan Shire to have the signs modified.

Chamber of Commerce president Gary Carr said the upgrades are a huge improvement.

‘‘They certainly stand out more than what they use to,’’ Mr Carr said.

‘‘You can read the most important part — ‘Finley’— better than previously and I think the raised backdrop helps the word to be more visible.

‘‘This wasn’t a major burning issue for the town but we felt as though we needed a few slight modifications.

‘‘Chamber is really happy with how quickly the shire acted to have the signs modified and we thank them for that.’’
