Deb, Lenny, Jeremy and Amanda Cardillo walked the 4km Mother's Day Classic course.

‘‘It was the perfect way to start Mother’s Day.’’

That’s what Tocumwal’s Jeremy Cardillo said about the ninth annual Mother’s Day Classic on Sunday.

Mr Cardillo was joined by his mother Deb, wife Amanda and their son Lenny for a leisurely 4km walk around the Tocumwal Foreshore.

‘‘It was great to see heaps of people from different towns all take part in something for a good cause,’’ Mr Cardillo said.

‘‘It was a good way to recover from football (the day before), and luckily we weren’t rained on.

‘‘This year’s Classic was my first walk. Usually I’m volunteering on the checkpoints so it was good to take part, particularly with my family.

‘‘The walk was pretty easy, we even had time to solve the all the world’s problems,’’ he joked.

Mr Cardillo and his family were among more than 200 participants who helped raise more than $6500 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
