One of Finley’s biggest annual events is this Saturday night — The Finley Rice Strippers Ball.
Hosted by Finley Apex with the help of various community groups, the ball usually attracts more than 1100 people to the local showgrounds.
Event co-organiser Scott Watkins said it’s always a ‘‘great weekend’’ for the town.
‘‘We encourage many of the people to go down the main street and shop local,’’ Mr Watkins said.
‘‘I’ve also found it a good way to catch up with old friends. We have not only locals but many that will come from Victoria and South Australia.’’
The ball is a massive fundraiser with all money raised going back into Finley Apex projects including work with the Finley Playgroup and Finley Toy Library.
‘‘Over 90 per cent of the money we spend on the event is with Finley businesses,’’ Mr Watkins said.
Finley Apex has been able to raise more than $350,000 over the past five years for local community groups.
Tickets to be purchased at the gate for $130. The fun kicks off at 7.30pm and dress is strictly black tie for men. The event is strictly for people aged 18 and over.
