Noreen Armstrong (right) celebrated her 100th birthday with her friend Nell Farrell, who is 103.

It was a time for celebration at Amaroo Aged Care last week, when long-time resident Noreen Armstrong turned 100.

Miss Armstrong was lucky enough to have her nieces and nephews travel from Echuca, Heathcote and Melbourne for a special party on May 5.

Also enjoying the celebrations was Miss Armstrong’s close friend, 103 year-old Nell Farrell.

‘‘I was honoured my family made the trouble to come all the way to Berrigan to celebrate with me,’’ Miss Armstrong said.

‘‘I really enjoyed catching up with my old neighbour Nell, we chatted about old times which brought back happy memories.

‘‘Thanks to Amaroo chef Glenda McCullough for baking a delicious cake.’’

Miss Armstrong was presented with letters from Queen Elizabeth II, Governor General Peter Cosgrove and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Representing the local area was Berrigan Shire Mayor Matt Hannan, who presented Miss Armstrong with a special certificate.

She’s also reported to be eagerly waiting her papal blessing from Pope Francis.

Miss Armstrong is well known among the staff and residents at Amaroo for her knitting.
