Blighty’s dominance in the Picola & District Netball League A grade competition has continued, following a hard fought seven-goal win over Picola United on Saturday.

Blighty’s dominance in the Picola & District Netball League A grade competition has continued, following a hard fought seven-goal win over Picola United on Saturday.

The Redeyes’ successful road trip to Picola saw them improve their record to 5-0, sitting one win clear on top of the ladder.

A strong Picola team came out firing in the first quarter scoring the first five goals. But a strong defensive effort brought the margin back to just three at quarter time.

Blighty stormed to the lead and a victory over the next three quarters.

Final score, Blighty 51 Picola 44. Blighty awards: Rhiannan Maxwell and Chelsea McNamara.

B grade: Blighty 37 Picola 20.

First win for the season for Blighty who played a fantastic game with great teamwork.

The Blighty shooters showed great accuracy.

Awards: Charlea Blake, Kaila Park and Amy Bunnett.

C grade: Blighty 47 def. Picola 32.

Blighty worked hard the entire game with great defensive turnovers and shooting.

Awards: Felicia Russell and Steph Barry.

C reserve grade: Blighty 31 def. Picola 17.

A full court performance with all Blighty players showing their versatility. The defence worked especially well.

Awards: Tameka Macdonald and Tiah Macdonald.

U17s: Blighty 33 def. Picola 22.

After a slow start in the first quarter, Blighty’s passes and placing pressure on the opposition lifted.

The shooters worked well together, along with a super strong defence and great mid-court passes by Mikaila Ackers.

Awards: Mikaila Ackers, Audrey James, Jasmine Ackers and Sarah Hanmer.

U15s: Blighty 24 lost to Picola 33.

All Blighty players were extremely positive and encouraging despite the loss.

Shelby Hislop was amazing in defence.

Awards: Shelby Hislop, Sarah Hanmer, Sophie Dudley, Zara Macdonald.

U13s: Blighty 22 def. Picola 8.

The defensive end was amazing, with a lot of turnovers and sticking with their opponent which is something they have worked on at training.

The court opened up more and Blighty found space in the second half.

Stevie Bateman played GA for first time this week and her movement was excellent.

Awards: Jessie Hanmer, Stevie Batemen, Kate Westcott.

Jasmun McKenzie received the players’ player award.

Minis: Blighty came out strong with hands up and excellent ‘three-feet’ defence.

Awards: Jenna Munro, Ellie Gavel and Claire Ingram.
