Caleb leads by 14

Saturday was the first round of the club championships that saw Division One going to Caleb Bovalina with a great score of 66 (six under par); 2nd place went to Ben Kerr with 69.

Division Two was won by Derek McMahon 71 on c/back from Dean Page. Patrick Boak was the Division Three winner with 72 followed by Ricky Bourke 73.

NTPs went to Dennis Frost 2nd, Phil Nunn 17th.

Sunday was the second round of the Championships that saw Caleb Bovalina repeating his score of Saturday with another 66 to go to 14 shots in front in Division One.

Second place went to Aaron Dale 70.

Charley McKenna was the Division Two winner with 67 followed by Stephen Conrick 71.

Division Three went to Ed Brown 69 followed by Ronald Eaton 73.

Men’s Gold winner was Noel Mckay 75 followed by Graeme Sharp 78.

Ladies stroke winner was Jo Boake 76. NTP Trish Frost.

Saturday saw 43 ladies playing stroke with Janyce Brown taking the win with 73 followed by Lynne Parry with 75.

Division Two was won by Val Watmore 73 on c/back from Joan Burns. Men’s Gold winner was Alan Penny with 71.

Tuesday last week saw 34 ladies playing stableford for RWH that saw Margaret Anderson and Jennie Hehir take the win with 46 pts.

They were followed by Nannette Mullins and Val Watmore with 43 on c/back from Vicki Kelly and Julie O’Brien.

Wednesday saw 119 men playing par that saw Paul Jones taking Division One with a great score of 7-up. Runner-up was Colin Holdsworth 4-up.

Division Two went to Derek McMahon 5-up on c/back from Charley McKenna.

Brian Dare was the Division Three winner with 4-up followed by Lawrence Deering 3-up.

Division Four went to Michael Calman 2-up with runner-up going to Neville Attril 1-up.

NTPs went to John Harmer 8th, David Duncomb pro pin $119.

Finley

It was Barry Fahey with 34 points who took the Daily Trophy at the Murray Hut Stableford Competition last Wednesday.

NTP on the 18th was Paul Beaver and balls went to Leo McNamara (33) and Jon Munro (32). The Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA was won in fine style by Bob Makkinga.

At the Thursday afternoon Nine Hole Stableford Competition it was Barry Fahey with 18 points who stepped up again to collect the voucher. Ball competition went to Paul Beaver.

Saturday was the Finley Hot Bread Stroke event and Barry Fahey with 70 net made it three in a row when he took the men’s Daily Trophy.

Janet Delmenico’s 80 net gave her the Ladies Trophy. Mary Polkinghorne with 32 putts claimed the ladies putting.

NTP on the 18th went to Grant Shaw. Balls went to John Taylor (74), Rand Wilson (77) and Mary Polkinghorne (84). Chick Braybon claimed the NAGA Trophy.

On Sunday, the Finley Hardware Stableford event was played and saw Leo McNamara card 39 points to claim the men’s trophy whilst Janet Delmenico with 33 points accepted the ladies trophy.

NTP on the 13th was Jenni Corcoran and on the 18th Barry Fahey.

Balls went to Chick Braybon (34), Eric Dean (33) and Joanne Dean (30).

At the weekend it’s Stableford on Saturday and Monthly Medal on Sunday.

Finley Ladies

A good field turned out for the Julie O’Brien sponsored Club Brooch Stroke Event this week with Anne Harding winning the Brooch.

Division One winner Sue Simpson 98 (22) 76 net; Division Two winner Anne Harding 101 (26) 75 on countback.

Putting: Joanne Dean 25 putts; scratch ball: Kellie White 91; club brooch: Anne Harding 75 on c/b.

Ball winners: Maree Doyle 75 net, Linda Rendell 77, Julie O’Brien 77, Kellie White 77, Kim McCaw 78.
