The Feel Good in Finley Expo is shaping up to be an exciting inaugural event, with guest speakers and stallholders ready to make you ‘feel good’.
The two day expo aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, whether it be mental or physical health and wellbeing.
Held at the Finley RS Club, the expo has already attracted more than 35 stallholders ranging from personal care, therapies, fitness, hobbies and healthy living.
Guest speakers will discuss topics such as strokes, mental wellbeing and depression, laughter therapy and mindfulness and meditation.
Occupational therapist Simone Russell will talk about the signs, symptoms and therapies of strokes.
Speaking about mental health will be Pat Lawson who will share his story about ‘coming back from suicide’, giving an insight of his journey up until now and how he is helping others to live again.
Expo co-organiser Cathy Close said the event will give attendees a greater insight into what health and wellbeing services are available.
‘‘The weekend is about feeling good about yourself, and because everyone is different we have plenty of speakers and stallholders to provide information.
‘‘We’re thrilled to have Simone speaking as she has local connections and is discussing a topic that affects all ages.
‘‘Mental health is certainly something everyone is affected by and Pat’s story I think will move a lot of people,’’ Mrs Close said.
The Finley RS Club will be fully utilised with stallholders spread throughout the venue.
Mrs Close said there’s something available for everyone.
‘‘It could be as simple as finding a new way to change your diet or maybe enjoying massage therapy. Local community groups will also be coming to speak about what is available in town.
‘‘I would encourage attendees to explore all options available because you never know what might help you.’’
Biralee Preschool will be running children’s activities throughout the expo.
There will be mini raffle prizes donated by stall holders drawn throughout the day.
The event is on May 19 and 20 from 10am until 4pm at the Finley RS Club. Entry is by gold coin donation.
