A fire battled in scrub off Town Beach Rd, Tocumwal on Thursday is believed to have been deliberately lit.
Firefighters from both Tocumwal Fire and Rescue and Tocumwal Rural Fire Service responded to the blaze, which was discovered about 1.15pm on Thursday.
The fire was burning shrub and bushes near the new boat ramp.
Crews quickly extinguished the flames, but not before they had destroyed about a half hectare of land.
Tocumwal Fire and Rescue Captain Iain Desailly said crews were concerned about trees catching fire due to the hot and windy conditions.
They were called back to the new boat ramp about 3.30pm the same day, when the fire reignited.
Capt Desailly said the ‘‘most likely’’ cause was embers transported by wind.
The subsequent blaze was extinguished within two minutes of firefighters returning to the scene.
