Presentation of trophies for Murray Bowls will be held on Sunday, May 6 at the Barooga Golf Club starting at 1.30pm. During the ceremony the Murray Bowls Division’s Hall of Fame will be launched.

Elaine Chaplin, Finley’s most decorated lady bowler, will be one of the people inducted. This is a true reflection on Elaine’s great bowling career.

The usual form is on display for those who want to attend this important annual event to assist with catering.

The veteran singles championship has been played and won convincingly by Ron Pentland when he defeated Ray Koschel 21-14.

Matches in the Men’s 100-up Championship continued throughout the week. Gordon Haines and Graham Chubb defeated Ray Koschel and Matthew Hannan; Geoff Trevorrow and Shannon Black defeated Laurie Walsh and Graham Shumack, Ash Haines and Ron Pentland defeated Norm Wilson and Allan Cowan.

Lyn Bergmans, Betty Robinson and Sheila Walsh were runners-up in the Ladies Trade Day at Berrigan recently. Social bowls will be played today with a touring party, ‘Melbourne Tatts’. A game will be played before lunch and a further game in the afternoon. It’s always nice to host visiting bowling groups.

Special thanks to Heather for her untiring effort to arrange this event.

Ashley Haines has been appointed as greenkeeper. Ash knows what conditions are needed for competitive bowling on well prepared greens.

Commonwealth Bank staff are organising a special evening on Friday, April 20 to give support to the ‘Clown Doctors’, a national charity.

The usual fundraising evening on Friday, April 27 will benefit Finley Little Athletics club.

Both of these events are worthy of support from members and the general public. Meals are available from 6pm. Bookings to the club on 58831324.

Players are reminded of the Gary McClelland triples event coming up soon at Berrigan. This event has been keenly supported by our players in the past.

Ladies trade day was most successful with 18 teams enjoying a wonderful event.

We are now hoping for an equally successful event on Saturday, April 21 for our Gary McLennan Men’s 3-Bowl Triples. Entries are still being taken.

Reminder to members that our annual presentation will be held after ‘The Gary’ at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Names to Nan please.
