Blighty’s A grade kicked off their Picola & District League season the right way, picking up a five-goal win against unfamiliar opponent Katunga in Katunga on Saturday.

Blighty’s A grade kicked off their Picola & District League season the right way, picking up a five-goal win against unfamiliar opponent Katunga in Katunga on Saturday.

It was a tight battle throughout with both sides matched well all down the court in the hot conditions.

Final score, Blighty 45 to Katunga 40.

Blighty awards - Nat Tremble, Rhiannan Maxwell, Abby Tindale and Georgia Bradford.

In B grade, the Redeyes were simply outclassed, falling to Katunga by 22 goals.

Blighty showed some strong dynamics within the team in the first half, but the team’s second half was down a little with fitness something to work on at training.

Final score, Katunga 54 to Blighty 32.

Awards - Amy Bunnett and Emmaline Weir.

Blighty’s C grade impressed in their season opener, picking up a nine goal win.

All girls played well in the hot conditions, holding a strong defence and smart attacking.

The Redeyes will however need to work on slowing the play and improving passes.

Final score, Blighty 39 to Katunga 30.

Blighty’s reigning North-West division premier side in C reserve were unable to overcome an impressive Katunga outfit.

The girls worked tirelessly in hot conditions with shooters Tahne White and Temeka Macdonald playing well.

Great teamwork and wonderful defence was also displayed by Nat Green and Tiah Macdonald.

Final score, Katunga 28 to Blighty 24.

The U17s Redeyes were victorious in an absolute thriller, just getting over the line by one goal.

Final score, Blighty 28 Katunga 27. Awards - Audrey James, Jasmine Ackers, Anika Bridge and Lillie Harford.

Blighty’s U15s were dominant in their season opener, claiming a 27 goal win.

Awesome driving and leading was displayed, with beautiful shooting by Zara Macdonald and Isabella McIlwain.

Final score, Blighty 38 to Katunga 11. Awards - Bridie Blake, Shelby Hislop and Isabella McIlwain.

Blighty’s U13s played tremendous netball in their 15-goal win over Katunga.

The shooters worked well and the defenders were amazing sticking to their opponents like glue.

Final score, Blighty 23 to Katunga 8. Awards - Sophie Murray, Jasmyn McKenzie, Nicola Stanworth and Jessica Hanmer.

The Minis had an amazing game, playing together for the first time. They all played well and had strong defence. Awards - Ella Gane, Katie Michael and Ruby Caruso.
