Tocumwal was a hive of activity over the Easter long weekend, which attracted visitors in large numbers.
Tocumwal Chamber of Commerce president Sergio Redegalli said the lack of parking available in the central business district across the weekend was a good sign.
‘‘There was little parking from one end of town to the Terminus (Hotel), and that’s the only easy way to tell how busy the town was,’’ Mr Redegalli said.
‘‘When the town overflows like that, you know it’s a bumper weekend.
‘‘Main beach was full and the campers were continually in town doing some shopping.
‘‘I didn’t go to the Tocumwal races (on Easter Saturday) but I heard it was an exciting day, and the Tocumwal markets on Saturday and Sunday were both very healthy.
‘‘It seemed to be a typically awesome and successful Easter weekend for Tocumwal.’’
Finley Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture president Gary Carr said Finley businesses were also able to capitalise on the Easter visitors.
‘‘Those who were open reported very good trade,’’ Mr Carr said.
‘‘A lot of the Easter activities are in Tocumwal, but some of the flow through of visitors did take time to stop in Finley.’’
Mr Redegalli said more detailed feedback on the Easter weekend and how it may be improved further next year will be discussed at next week’s chamber meeting.
