Finley Regional Care will celebrate Seniors Week by showcasing the range of services it offers members of our community — including Residential Care, Home Care Services and Medical Centre services — via an ‘open day’ on April 19.

Held from 10am to 2pm, it will include a Mini Aged Care Expo as well as a chance to walk through the residential facility and meet some of the residents and friendly staff.

On Wednesday, April 11, another Seniors Week activity will allow the residents to get ‘hands on’ in the food services department by helping to prepare lunch for that day.

Finley Regional Care is a community managed, not-for-profit organisation which has a strong history and sound future of providing aged and general health care to the Riverina region and beyond.

Based on its vision of continually striving for excellence in caring for our community, Finley Regional Care embraces a high standard of quality care that is person centred, progressive, comprehensive, and takes into consideration the lives of the individual, family and community.

The fully accredited 75-bed residential facility provides home-style, modern, up to date care equipment, ageing in place accommodation for both permanent and respite accommodation, and includes an 18 bed secure dementia specific area.

During the facilitation, promotion and provision of care Finley Regional Care recognises the individual’s health status, family and social contact, religion, culture, individual needs and their choices.

Meals are freshly prepared at the facility utilising one of the latest online catering software programs, Souped Up, written by a dietician and which provides complete dietary and menu management.

Additional services include podiatry, physio, a dietician, speech therapist, hairdressing, in-house laundry, access to general practitioners and palliative nurses, a busy varied activity program and church services.

The beautifully maintained gardens enhance the facility’s homely atmosphere. Residents are also encouraged to undertake their own piece of gardening via raised garden beds or in pots.

Skilled, trained staff, including a Registered Nurse on duty 24/7, provide compassionate care, and volunteers are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Please contact Finley Regional Care if you would like to be part of the volunteer program.

Finley Regional Care also has capacity to provide care in the home with its Complete Care service. This option endeavours to maintain ageing clients in their homes, enabling them to remain independent and resourceful with a sense of continued achievement.

Complete Care services include personal support, transport to appointments, laundry, housekeeping, home maintenance, gardening and social support, assistance with medications, access to a Registered Nurse and assistance with meal preparation.

Finley Regional Care’s Medical Centre is fully AGPAL accredited and gives you access to three trusted, highly qualified local doctors.

As a Finley Medical Centre patient, you also have the benefit of a number of visiting specialists including a general surgeon, psychologist, counsellor, podiatrist, dietician, geriatrician and other allied health care works, as well as access to Tele Health Services via Skype.

A pathology collection centre is situated within the centre and a strong link with Finley Hospital means staff can take care of any hospital admission that you or a family member may need.

Alumuna — an independent living unit development — is the newest addition to the range of Finley Regional Care services.

The first six homes will be completed by mid year, and will link to a stand alone power grid which will generate the power for Alumuna. The homes will be beautiful, modern, and carefully thought through, and are designed to give you the lifestyle and security you demand.

Alumuna’s biggest advantage is that your home is maintained, so you are free to roam, knowing that when you return, your home will be just as you left it.
