Finley Lions Club members celebrated the kitchen upgrades in the Bob Close Pavilion at the Finley Showgrounds recently.

Member for Farrer Sussan Ley was present, after the Lions received a $10,000 grant to go towards rebuilding the kitchen as part of the $30,000 upgrade to the pavilion that will include a new floor.

The added features to the kitchen include new cupboards, benches, sinks, drawers and a complete reflooring to go with the new fridge and stove purchased in 2017.

Finley Lions president Peter Braybon said the upgrades would help service the high volume of events that take place throughout the year in the pavilion.

‘‘This was built by the Finley Lions and is owned by Lions.

‘‘We are happy with the help we’ve received to upgrade an asset for the community.

‘‘The grant has enabled us to do this.

‘‘We started applying at Christmas and received the grant almost instantly.

‘‘It’s the first time we’ve applied for a grant to upgrade the building since 1992.

‘‘We are also planning to refloor the main room.

‘‘The pavilion is open for events at the reasonable price,’’ Mr Braybon said.
