Not only are there new kindergarten students joining our schools across the Southern Riverina, there are also some new teachers.

Tocumwal Public School has welcomed two new teachers in 2018 — Lexy Stormon and Nathan Haley.

Miss Stormon has joined the school as the Year 1 teacher and brings a wealth of experience, especially in infant education.

She spent the past two years at Murrumburrah Public School, and before that she taught at Queanbeyan East Public School.

‘‘I’m excited about taking on new challenges and acquiring different skills from my colleagues at Tocumwal Public,’’ Miss Stormon said.

Mr Haley lives in Tocumwal and has been teaching at Finley Public School for the past eight years. Prior to that he taught in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Mr Haley said he is looking forward to teaching Year 6 this year.

Tocumwal Public School principal Darren White said he is excited to welcome Miss Stormon and Mr Haley to the staff.

‘‘New teachers bring fresh ideas and experiences to share with existing staff,’’ Mr White said.

‘‘The whole school community welcomes them to Tocumwal and we look forward to their contribution to the education of our students.’’

Joining the Finley Public School staff in 2018 is Jess Congram, who will be teaching Year 3/4.

Miss Congram has moved back to Finley after living in Bendigo and then Albury with her partner Reuben and their two sons.

She said she’s looking forward to the year ahead at her new school.

‘‘I am so glad to be back in the Finley community and I’m loving being back full time teaching at Finley Public School.

‘‘We came back to Finley to give our boys, Colton and Alfie, the country lifestyle upbringing that I thoroughly enjoyed.

‘‘I’m a Finley girl through and through and love teaching at my old primary school.

‘‘Over the last five years I have taught here at Finley Public, Jerilderie Preschool and White Hills Primary School (Bendigo).

‘‘This is my first year teaching a Year 3/4 class and I’m excited for the new challenge.’’
