Bloods snap losing streak

Tocumwal’s Division Two side ended their five game losing streak on Saturday, defeating Jerilderie by eight wickets in Tocumwal.

The Bloods won the toss, sending the Demons in to bat to start the Murray Valley Cricket round 13 clash.

Tocumwal’s opening bowlers immediately had Jerilderie on the back foot, having Jerilderie being down six wickets down for a mere 15 runs.

Dylan Henery (17) put some up some resistance with support from the other rest of Jerilderie’s tail end to bring the score to 58 runs before being all out.

Henery top scored with his 17, while Ignatius Crittenden (nine) and Andy Neessen (eight) also helped push the Demons score along.

Wicket takers for Tocumwal were Andrew Arthur, taking 4/6 from his opening seven overs.

Keith Stevens also sent down seven overs to capture 3/10, while Andrew Jarrett cleaned up Jerilderie’s tail end, taking 3/8 off just 2.2 overs.

The Tocumwal batsmen quickly chased down the runs required, opener Darren White making a quickfire 30 runs with fellow opener Paul Russell patiently compiling 16 runs to be not out when Tocumwal passed Jerilderie’s score in the 20th over.

Keith Stevens added nine runs before being bowled out while Dale Chandler (six not out) saw out the finish of the game.

Wicket takers for Jerilderie were Dylan Henery (1/12 off five) and Mitch A’Vard (1/18 off five).

Despite the loss, Jerilderie still sit in fourth position of the ladder, with the Bloods hot on their trail in fifth spot.

Next week Jerilderie travel to Berrigan to take on the Saints and Tocumwal will host third place Finley.
