The 11th annual Ted King Junior Quadripartite Tournament was held at Strathmerton Bowls Club on Saturday and Sunday.
This event is for junior bowlers under 18 years of age, and is the most lucrative junior tournament in Victoria.
The overall winners of the event were Cooper Westcombe, Tyson Cromie, Ethan Higgins and Jarryd Davies, with runners-up Lisa Trewarne, Sophie Kurzman, Mikayla Long and Lachlan Morison.
Tocumwal bowler Pam van Huizen, who umpired throughout the tournament, was impressed by the young bowlers.
‘‘All the bowlers played with great sportsmanship and camaraderie,’’ she said.
‘‘They are a pleasure to watch not only for their demeanour but their excellent bowls.
‘‘Justine Stokes has organised this event every year and with a couple of helpers does an amazing job with all events running like clockwork.’’
Flynn Eaton, the grandson Tocumwal bowler Effie Eaton, claimed the special award given to the bowler who exhibits great sportsmanship, etiquette and teamwork throughout the tournament.
Pam said it was a tremendous weekend and that there were many people that deserved congratulations on their efforts.
‘‘I’d like to give thanks to the Moama Bowling Club who sponsor the event,’’ she said.
‘‘Without our sponsors, our tournaments would not exist.
‘‘I also would like to congratulate to all the participants and their parents, guardians and grandparents who support them and run them all round the country to further our great game of bowls.’’
