How many delicious hot meat pies can you consume in a short time?

Locals will be given a chance to test that question at the Berrigan Market Night this Friday, thanks to the new pie eating contest.

Hosted by the Berrigan & District Development Association and supported by Berrigan Bakehouse, three age category competitions are offered.

The primary school category is open to children aged 12 or younger. Five contestants will be tasked with eating as many party pies as they can in one minute.

The teenager category will be held for two minutes, with four competitors required to consume regular sized pies.

The open category is for adults, and only open to three daring people who will have to tackle ‘family’ size pies over the course of three minutes.

Berrigan Bakehouse owner Tammy Thornton said as the inaugural event, she expects there will be a lot of excitement surrounding the competition.

Anyone wishing to compete in the primary or teen sections should register with their school. For the open category, sign up on the night. Spots are limited, so get in quick.
