Jerilderie Division Two travelled to Nathalia on Saturday where they won the toss and elected to bat in Murray Valley Cricket Association’s 35-over competition.
Early wickets saw both openers Ignatius Crittenden and Dave Pasin back in the pavilion.
Number three Josh Rochford and number four Luke Keating dug in to bring the Demons’ score to 2/62.
Rochford made a patient 20 runs before being caught.
Jordy Anthony joined Keating to add a further nine runs to the score.
Both Rochford and Anthony provided good support to Keating while building the score to 5/105 after 28 overs.
Fraser Pinnuck then joined Keating at the crease and compiled a well judged 29 runs in a 59-run partnership in the final seven overs.
Keating carried his bat for an excellent 86 not out, and took the final tally to 6/164 off 35 overs.
Best bowlers for Nathalia were S Young 2/12 and A Morgan 2/32.
Nathalia batsmen M Lundberg and C Stevens put on an opening partnership of 104 before the first wicket of Stevens was to fall, caught by Dylan Henery.
Not long after Lundberg was caught by Pasin, with Pinnuck claiming both openers.
Jerilderie were unable to take another wicket and K Wise and S Young were able to take the Nathalia score to 2/172 off 31 overs.
It was good to see young cricketers Zander Nash and Alex A’Vard playing their first senior match for Jerilderie.
