Long time Berrigan Shire general manager Rowan Perkins (pictured) has agreed to a five year contract extension.
The five year contract, starting next February, was approved by councillors at their September meeting.
Mr Perkins started working with Berrigan Shire Council in 1994 as director corporate services, before taking the position as general manager in 1998.
He said he is looking forward to at least another five years with Berrigan Shire.
‘‘I have always enjoyed working for the council; it’s always been proactive and professional,’’ he said.
‘‘The council has been prepared to take risks when it has to and the councillors have always worked well as a team.
‘‘The staff have been good to me and have supported me well.’’
In almost 20 years at the helm of the council’s staff, Mr Perkins said he has has overseen many decisions to help improve the lifestyle of the shire’s residents.
‘‘We have radically improved roads, kerbs, guttering and recreational reserves,’’ he said.
‘‘I think we’re a good performer with our development applications, and we’ve always had good population growth.
‘‘One recent big tick was avoiding a merger with other councils, considering almost every council that surrounds us was amalgamated.’’
