Mural project begins this Sunday

September 13, 2017

Four local artists may not be painting the town red this weekend, but they will be working on a mural, weather permitting, in the town centre.

Ros Lockhart, Tianni Given, Helene Mortlock and Sos Hawkins will bring to fruition on Sunday a project that has been in the pipeline for many months.

The mural is supported by the Murray Local Land Services through the Billabong Yanco Project, with funding from the Australian National Landcare Programme.

Funding was sought by Jerilderie Lions Club to contract four local artists to collaborate, design and paint the mural, which will appear on the east-facing wall of the Jerilderie Bakery.

The subject will be revealed on the day of execution.

We look forward to clement weather on Sunday, and the chance to have our own locally produced masterpiece in the centre of town!

The Town Garage Sale this Saturday is to raise money for the Finley High School students who will travel to Timor in 2018. Take a trip around the town, look for the sale signs, and maybe pick up a bargain.

The Jerilderie Hospital Auxiliary street stall is on this Friday from 8.30am. Your support will be appreciated, either with baking, produce, or buying.

A goods and services auction is to be held at the Coleambally Club on Saturday October 7, to raise money for a wheelchair and car conversion for Rebecca Collie, who was paralysed from the waist down in a quad bike accident on her father’s Coleambally property in April.

Max Collie worked for Jerilderie Shire Council some years ago.

Rebecca was home on holidays and helping do sheep work when the accident happened.

Friends have set up Beck’s Future Fundraiser, and anyone who would be willing to give goods or services for the auction is invited to contact Dianne Anderson on (02)69548636 or 0427151193, Tracey Boschetti on 0427820715, or Rob Fairweather on 0428544065.

Any offers of assistance, either with baking or help on the day at the canteen on race day, September 23, would be appreciated. Proceeds will be shared between the pre-school, public school and St Joseph’s school.

Contact Carmen Lawton on 0427242148.

The Jerilderie Netball Club will host its AGM on October 12 from 7pm at Monash Park. All positions will be declared vacant. Everyone is welcome to attend.
